The original Roman London Wall.
Varied approaches to St. Paul's
and the Globe theatre.
We managed to get seats, although they sell over 100 tickets for each performance at £5 each. These are for the 'groundlings', and we saw several being carried out in the heat.
Performers
and it turned out that All's Well That Ends Well
Recrossing the Millenium footbridge
from which you can see Claire's work building. (It's the very pale one, 2nd from the left)
Loitering with intent, outside the Old Bailey
A place of interest for you, Bill C.
We went to the Albert Hall
to see the London Philharmonic.

Back in London
Sorry about the lack of news - I've been stranded on the canals, but more of that later.
We caught the bus into town, and Cathy was much taken by this plant covered building. It went up for many stories, but the bus went quicker.

Picadilly circus,
and Admiralty Arch,
and Trafalgar Square,
and St Martin in the Fields church.
Off to the national Portrait Gallery, then into Soho for a quiet beer
before a wander through part of chinatown, then off to the theatre.

Last Day in NY
Someones got to clean the windows, but I'm glad it isn't me
At museum of Modern Art. aka MOMA. The only gallery that allowed us to photograph the paintings. Here is Cathy with a little something by Monet.
.... and this is a big something by Jackson Pollock.
Top of the Rock. 70 stories up at the Rockefeller centre. Central Park.
.. and the Empire State Building in the clouds ...
.. and the Chrysler building (just) ..
and finally, Cathy, with Manhattan at her feet.

And More New York
The inner courtyard of the Frick Museum (just before Cathy was informed that photography was not allowed)
Outside the Guggenheim ..
... and inside. This amazing art gallery has paintings on the walls of an ascending spiral, and other galleries branch off from the spiral as you go up.

.
Considering the noise and crowds and traffic, these leafy streets are almost unbelievable.

The Chrysler building. Someone told us that the view looking straight down on this building is an exact replica of a 1937 Chrysler petrol tank cap. So there.
Dinner at Union Square. The waitress was a real charmer, and prevailed on the chef to produce fish and chips for Erik (not on the menu) and a plate of broccoli for Oskar.
The curtain at the Sondheim Theatre, just before: a) it rose and the show began, and b) they told Cathy that photography was not allowed.
On the way home from the theatre.
View from our balcony looking up Madison Ave. ....
... and down it.

More New York
Well, the sign says it.

We stopped in this little cafe off 1st Ave and the most delicious burritos. And we didn't get mugged!
Macys - consumer bedlam.
Times Square. At night, the neon ligts, etc, are amazing.
Still in Times Square.
Going home. In New York, we finbd that we sleep REALLY well. Sore feet, though.

Dinner in Harlem
On the way to Donosaur Ribs, the restaurant that Karl had sussed out, we came across the original Cotton Club. To all appearances, it is still functioning.
Dino ribs - I don't think I've ever eaten so much. Good, though.
Harlem tenements
On the way back to the station.
