June 23rd

Off to Chatham naval dockyard for the day. Train from Victoria, past the remains of Battersea power station.

The royal insignia is on the inside of the main gate 'to keep it out of the rain' says one of the guards.

A submarine

A destroyer.
A figurehead or two.
This is the ropery - nearly 800m long. Not as great a need for ropes as in Napoleonic times, but their last big sale was to the company that produced Pirates of the Carribean.
An anchor cable.
Another view of the ropery
WHO do you think made a bad landing?
Taken just after we emerged from the bowels of this submarine.
