Day 1 in Provence

Sorry about the break in service. Wifi is hard to get here, and things move SLOWLY, as can be seen by the denizens of Val's garden.
In fact, I am, writing this blog while sitting outside a neighbour's house since he gave me the code before leaving for Germany this morning.

Still, I did manage to get on the bike again.

Lunch after a morning ride.

They seem to be incapable of eating a simple meal here without drinking too much wine.

Vinsobres had a weekend festival for "villages with bizarre names" (Vins et sobre)

Over 15000 people turned up

and were quite boisterous.

This is one of the quieter corners of Vinsobres this weekend.

This is an old couple who came to join the festivities ......

... and here they are going home

That night there were fireworks, which were set off  along the cemetery wall next to Val's. As a result, they all went off directly over our heads.

It's now near midnight, and I'm sick of sitting on the ground in the dark, no matter what the charms of blogging. Early ride to Valreas in the morning, then I'll continue this in better (ie more sober) circumstances..
