Wednesday in Paris

Up sort of early, pastries and coffee in a tabac, some light shopping (Cathy bought two pairs of shoes; Anne, one)

....and then to the market to forage.

We saw this sign for a flower shop.

Home, lunch at a brasserie and then off to Pere Lachaise cemetery on a 61 bus.

The cemetery is HUGE, and largely full of unknown Frenchmen, although we thought this one might ring a bell

Of course, there was the token Italian ......

... and the token Pole

... and the token yank (Jim Morrison)

Cathy called this a 'stairway to heaven'.

There was one Frenchman (or woman) of note, the little sparrow.

The strangest grave was that of Oscar Wilde. We really couldn't work this one out.

Ad of the day. A web design company just down the road from the apartment.

Berries.

  1. We thoroughly enjoyed Pierre Lachaise especially with a list of who is buried there. Spent some time looking up who they were when we got back to our apartment. Some really amazing people buried there.

  2. I see you were gathering, but not rosebuds whilst you may'st

Oscar really had to carry that weight!

I note that you saw lot's of berries,
So pleased you are not in the Skerries*
    other fruit is all right,
one can tell at a bight,
but what i like are big juicy cherries.

    *(islands that is),
